Networking and Resourcing

The best thing to do after getting to this point is being able to share with others what you've learned.  When this site develops steam we'll work toward chats in the room below to talk about questions or comments you have regarding the book.  I know that we can work out a schedule where other Purpose Driven Lutheran pastors can lead the chats about preaching, transitioning, teaming, or whatever else would be helpful.

Leading On Purpose was discussed on Authors ONLINE! at the Ecunet forum from January 1-31.  You can get a free Ecunet Lite membership by logging into the Ecunet site and clicking on lite membership.  I moderated the discussion, and there were lots of people there discussing the book, so that is one place to learn about the book.

Additionally, Leading On Purpose was mentioned in an article in the October 19, 2004 issue of the Christian Century, page 9.  It's only a brief mention, but it's nice to be recognized!   It was also mentioned in the November/December issue of Seeds for the Parish which also highlighted the Authors Online discussion forum.

The purpose driven phenomenon was the topic of a feature presentation in the February issue of The Lutheran, which is available available online.  Check it out; it's in the February issue!  There is/was a discussion forum that I will be hosting during the second week in February, though there has not been a lot of activity there.

The Purpose Driven Lutheran class was held at Luther Seminary on January 31-February 4.  It will be held again next February during the third week in February.  It's a great class to bring a team to, so think about that.  This year there were a lot of individuals from churches, but if you can bring a team it multiplies the effect.  Many pastors this year said they'd like to return with a team next year.  For those pastors and church leaders who are serious about leading on purpose, this is the best leadership training time you can spend.

If you haven't checked out Robert Driver-Bishop's site, also do that for a whole lot of additional information.

Having returned from a World Vision trip to East Africa, I discovered a whole new purpose for my ministry at St. Matthew.  More of that will be coming, but I've linked some pictures from the Bukoba ADP in Tanzania and from a safari that we went on after the World Vision time was over.  They're huge files and take some time to download; don't attempt to do this with a dial-up connection...

Here's the chat room for future discussion when we can schedule time for chats.  Email me if you'd like to do that.
